Bound Angle Pose

Baddha Konasana

From our teaching team · Jen Villegas

Bound Angle Pose — also called Cobbler's Pose. Most of us are familiar with the reclined version, Supta Baddha Konasana. A gentle, accessible posture for all levels.

Practice safely

These guides are for general education and are not medical advice or a substitute for in-person instruction. Yoga is physical, and every body is different: practice at your own risk, move within your own limits, and stop if something hurts. Talk with your physician before starting any new physical practice, especially if you are pregnant, injured, or managing a health condition. The safest place to learn any of these poses is in the room with a teacher who can see you, and our teachers adjust for every level in every class.

Benefits

  • Opens the hips and inner thighs
  • Encourages circulation and grounding
  • Supports digestion and relaxation
  • Gentle, accessible posture for all levels

Teaching notes

  • Invite students to sit tall and root down through the sit bones.
  • Soles of the feet touch, knees drop out wide (like butterfly wings).
  • Option to place blocks or blankets under the knees for support.
  • Encourage length through the spine and softening of the shoulders.
  • Remind students they can fold forward for a deeper release, or stay upright for grounding.

Reflection prompt for class

"Where can you allow ease while staying open?" Try weaving the posture in at the beginning, middle, or end of class throughout the month.

The best way to learn it is in the room.

Our teachers break down poses like this in every class, at every level. First class is $8.
